Blaen-y-Maes AFC
Since November 2023, Blaen-y-Maes AFC has undergone some changes and made some huge strides forward to improve their facilities and take the club in a new direction. Blaen-y-Maes AFC was once the heartbeat of the community, with league and cup successes sporadically achieved since its foundation in 1973. The goal today is to revive that heartbeat within the community.
The club successfully managed to bring in two new managers for the first team set up, and the other biggest change for the club is the relationship that’s being built with the local Penderi team in The 104, Swansea Council, local Penderry Ward Councillors, local businesses and the community at large.
The football club have worked hard to secure a long-term lease on the Cadle Mill football pitch and getting support to get equipment and materials to help with the drainage at the pitch. Team members volunteered, worked together and did all the required drainage work themselves.
The club are now looking to get assistance to erect a perimeter and spectator fence and look into grant applications to help the club grow. Blaen-y-Maes AFC not only wants to move the club forward but wants the community to come along for the ride. We can’t wait to see what the future has in store both on and off the field for Blaen-y-maes AFC and the Penderi community.
