Active and involved community

The Penderi Community is vibrant and has a rich story to tell, from the old mill at Cadle, and the protected Valley Woods to post war housing and the much-loved Mettoys factory.

Many people have contributed to the creation of the 7 Regeneration Ambitions, though individual conversations, group workshops and online questionnaires.

There are valued community led organisations working together to bring neighbours together and look out for each other, like Blaenymaes Drop In Centre, Ty Forest Resource Hub and Portmead and Blaenymaes Community Centre.

Organisations involved with this regeneration programme understand the local knowledge and passion that community members shared in the creation of the Masterplan. They are committed to ensuring local people are influential throughout the action planning and delivery stages during the next 15-20 years.

We want to make it as easy and interesting as possible for local people to stay involved and welcome new people to join in the conversations.  We will provide lots of different ways to get in touch and sharing thoughts and ideas. Some of the ways we have had discussions so far is through:

  • One-off conversations on the street, at events, and individual homes
  • Collectively designing and delivering specific projects, like, designing a public green space, or planning a community event
  • Online surveys
  • Creative workshops

Now that the Masterplan has been finalised, local people will be coming together with organisations to make detailed plans for action to make the ambitions a reality in bite sized steps. Local people are invited to join working groups, project teams and the overarching Regeneration Board.

If you have a passion for any of the ambitions, have an idea or some feedback that you think needs to be heard, please get in touch with us.
