School Amalgamation

February 2026 Half Term Site Investigation Works

Ground investigation work will take place on the Blaenymaes Primary School site during February half term 2026, with wider areas of the site continuing into following week.

This forms part of early design work linked to the published proposal to amalgamate Blaenymaes and Portmead Primary Schools. As set out in the public proposal, a possible location for a new school is being explored close to the current Blaenymaes site.

These checks are routine and will support the design and development of the new school.

What you may see:

  • Small, boreholes to collect soil samples
  • Larger pits for percolation tests to check drainage
  • Temporary fenced off areas for safety

Work is planned for half term to avoid disruption to Blaenymaes Primary School pupils and will continue on locations outside of the school site during following week.
